Life at Nordsternstaat

Top Quality Care

The dogs at Nordsternstaat hold a special place in our hearts as cherished members of our family. We’ve spent years testing different foods and care products to find what works best for our crew. Our dogs are primarily nourished with Victor and Farmina dog food. For training rewards during tracking and obedience, we’ve found that Freshpet, Lucy Roll, hot dogs, and smoked cheese work exceptionally well. When it comes to safe and comfortable transportation, we trust kennels from Dakota 283, Ruffland, and Variocage — each offering excellent security and airflow. For grooming, we rely on Nature’s Specialties products, which are gentle on the skin and keep our dogs smelling fresh.

Our veterinary team was carefully chosen for their experience and knowledge of the German Shepherd breed. From the time our dogs join our family at eight weeks old, our vet evaluates their structure and development. We also work with specialists in eyes, cardio, reproduction, and dermatology to ensure our dogs receive the best possible care. If you ever have questions about our dogs’ health or care routines, we’re always happy to share more.

Our dogs enjoy active, enriching lives with daily activities such as obedience, hiking, joring, and tracking. We believe time outdoors is essential for their physical and mental well-being. They’re also seasoned travelers, often joining us on adventures across the Midwest. We regularly train with Invictus Working Dog Club as well as several private trainers in disciplines such as IGP, PSA, and detection.
