Breeding Philosophy
At Nordsternstaat, our main focus is on breeding German Shepherds that meet the SV Standard. This means that our dogs undergo various tests and evaluations to ensure their temperament, working abilities, endurance, and conformation score. Additionally, we prioritize the health of our dogs by conducting orthopedic and genetic tests. Many of our dogs have achieved titles in different sports, showcasing the versatility of the breed. We continue to follow traditional breeding practices to ensure that our dogs are physically and mentally sound before breeding. Our ultimate goal is to produce puppies that can thrive in any environment.
As a group, we will discuss your goals for you and your dog. It's important to note that not every litter will have the perfect puppy for you. We want you to have a happy and fulfilling experience throughout your pet's lifetime. Our aim is to produce puppies that excel both as sport dogs and as family pets. However, some of our litters may be more focused on one aspect or the other. We firmly believe that German Shepherds can live harmoniously with active families who are not involved in sports. The dogs at our kennel primarily come from West German Working lines. However, we appreciate all lines and may incorporate other lines in some of our breedings. We also have a fondness for West German Showlines, and you may see us either crossing with showlines or breeding to them to enhance the overall structure and temperament of our pets.

Conformation
All of our dogs at Nordsternstaat have earned at least a “Good” (G) rating with the USCA and also compete in UKC conformation. We continuously strive to improve our program by pairing dogs that complement each other and help correct faults.

Working
We aim for all of our dogs to earn both a temperament test and a working title. While we primarily focus on IGP, we’re also actively training in PSA, dog-powered sports, and other working disciplines.

Endurance
We strive for all of our dogs to demonstrate proven endurance. Each of our dogs holds an AD title, which requires trotting 12 miles alongside a bicycle. In addition, our dogs are active in mushing and bikejoring, showcasing their stamina and versatility.
